Playing Catch-Up: Christmas Gifts

I am reunited with my sewing things and my camera! I am beyond happy.

My husband and I have begun our search for a house, and I can’t wait to find our little fixer-upper. I have begun research about different aspects of home remodeling and design, and I am excited to learn more. If we end up finding a house to fix up, I think I might start a separate blog about our renovation adventures.

Now that I have my camera back, I can show all of you my Christmas projects. I know, Christmas is long over, but I’d still like to share these projects.

Make-up Pouches

I designed and sewed little zippered make-up pouches for Christmas gifts.

I used the purple floral one for tutorial pictures, and I had pictures of the two below.

I made little Verity tags specifically for these pouches, and sewed them into the lining.

I will post the process for these tomorrow.

Painted Mugs and Coasters

I had a grandiose plan to use stencils for painting some mugs and coasters. It took me quite a while to create these stencils.

I started using a stencil for the mug below, but it didn’t work well. I just wound up painting by hand.

I revised my plan, and painted sets of mugs like these.

I also made some coasters from tiles with rounded corners from the hardware store. I painted them and added felt to the bottom.

I used acrylic paint that I had in my art supplies, and coated the mugs and coasters with a protective seal.

I got some fabulous gifts myself. My youngest sister made these placemats for me. She did such a fantastic job!

Custom Dresses

These dresses were made for two gals for Christmas gifts. Their mother asked me to create the dresses for them, and gave me creative freedom. I had so much fun making them!

I had a fabulous Christmas, and I hope all of you did as well.

Newton and I on Christmas day. I'm wearing the stormy weather cardigan that I reconstructed in October.

About Becca

I am a self-taught seamstress, and I love to create unique women’s clothing. This blog is a record of the hodgepodge of sewing projects that occupy my time. Reconstruction projects are my favorite, but I also create clothing from my own designs using both recycled and new materials.
