Don’t cry over busted zipper teeth

The second time I wore those grey pants from the thrift store, the zipper broke.

The zipper got some of its teeth knocked out. They literally flew off when I unzipped the zipper. :/

It figures, I find a pair of pants that I like and I spend the time hemming, and now I can’t even wear them. Well, I suppose I need to look at the positive outcome of this. Yes, I have to take the pants apart now in order to replace the zipper, but that will make it easier to draft a pattern from them.

I know I said I was putting off making trousers, but I couldn’t wait. I got some material the other day. The fabric store was having a very inviting sale.

So, I’ll use my own drafted pants pattern for that blue-ish grey fabric. I’m thinking I might make a little jacket with what will be left of this material.

Pinstripe suiting

With the pinstripe material, I will make a pair of pants using a pattern from the 2/10 Burdastyle magazine. I got enough of that material that I might be able to make a little pinstripe dress. Or maybe even another vest, since I seem to be vest obsessed at the moment.

I also found some black lining in the remnants bin, as well a nice red knit to use for a top.

Completed projects and some thrift store finds coming soon, I promise. Next week will make up for this last month’s shortcomings. 😉
