DIY Furniture

My husband and I decided a few months ago to start making all of our own furniture. We finally have a table, and are getting close to finishing the chairs. My only real part in it has been sewing the cushions together to go on top of the stools (It is a high, bistro style table).

I enjoyed doing that because it involved sewing in straight lines, something I haven’t done much of in a while. I also haven’t done much sewing with upholstery fabric. However, it was a very simple task, and the upholstery fabric is microsuede so it is very soft and pleasant to sew. Once everything is complete I will post some pictures.

Now I am going to be working on our couch in between other projects. It will be made using the same light tan microsuede fabric, I’m just waiting for my husband to finish the frame, and purchase the foam.

I also bought the fabric below on ebay to make some throw pillows. I wasn’t sure whether or not the fabric would match, but I got lucky and it goes with the microsuede (Yay!).

I am also planning on crocheting some smaller pillows as well in a teal color. When my mom came to visit, she got me interested again in knitting and crocheting. She is a knitting fanatic. Yarn to her is like fabric is to me: an addiction. So, I’ve got a few knitting projects in the works as well that I will post in the future.

About Becca

I am a self-taught seamstress, and I love to create unique women’s clothing. This blog is a record of the hodgepodge of sewing projects that occupy my time. Reconstruction projects are my favorite, but I also create clothing from my own designs using both recycled and new materials.

I’m addicted to fabric too so we must be related! Pretty fabric. Anxious to see some finished products. Amazing, you are!
